The Shoemaker's Dream

  • Martin, the shoemaker, dreams that God will appear to him the next day. He waits in anticipation, but his day is filled with serving others in much need. His kindness touches each person, but will his dream come true?

The proceeds from this beautiful book and CD will go towards Cush4Christ and with your help could supply this church planting effort with nearly $30,000 USD of additional ministry capabilities! All the printing costs have been lovingly donated in memory of Pastor Dave Long. What a meaningful Christmas gift! Get your copy today and this would make a great gift for friends and family!

Dave Long exemplified the lesson of the Shoemaker’s Dream in the way he related to others. Dave always gave his focused attention, sincere encouragement, and sacrificial love to those around him. As the shoemaker demonstrates, to truly minister to others, we must sacrifice a piece of ourselves. Dave Long faithfully lived out 1 Thessalonians 2:8, “Having thus a fond affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us.” Whether with his own family; his congregation in Lafayette, Indiana; or with small children in South Sudan through his work with RP Global Mission, Dave ministered as though he were caring for Jesus Himself.

As a response to Dave’s many years of serving the ministry of the Reformed Presbyterian Global Mission Board, the proceeds from the sale of this book will be a gift to the RP Global Missions in order to carry on the ministries which the LORD has given them throughout the world.

God is glorified when His people are spurred on to love and good works. Sometimes that spurring on occurs through direct confrontation, but it is so much more pleasant when we are moved by the inspiration of a good example, the gentle reminder of a friend, or the powerful beauty of art itself. May God use this project, offered to Him in love, to stir each of you to love the people around you with the same love with which God loved the world; a love in which we give up that which is precious to us, even as He gave His one and only Son. Soli Deo Gloria, Dave Hanson

“A Christian should use these arts ... as things of beauty to the praise of God. An art work can be a doxology in itself.” Francis Schaeffer
