KID•2•KID 2024

We often hear about and from adults when talking about missions. But many of those adults involved in God’s global missions / church-planting efforts have kids. As a result, those kids are on mission as well. So, let’s give those kids a voice!

And when it comes to supporting missions and global church-planting efforts, the appeals are usually to the adults. But kids can pray, give, and encourage too—especially when they get to support those kids on the field that we just mentioned above.

This month RP Global Missions is supplying you and your church with opportunities, activities, and resources that will help kids of all ages support the work of our missionaries, field workers, and their kids.

PRAY • GIVE • ENCOURAGE

During Kid2Kid month we are encouraging kids to become supporters of missions not just in the future, but NOW! There are many ways to support missions, but during Kid2Kid month we focus on praying, giving, and encouraging.

  • PRAY: We are providing bulletin inserts with information that will help kids pray for missionary kids, kids of other workers involved in our missions, and generally for kids globally.

  • GIVE: We are encouraging kids to raise funds for RP Global Missions in September. Whether it is through collecting coins in coin jars (see below for coin jar labels), jog-a-thons (or other types of -a-thons) on International Kid2Kid Day, or having kids bake or make crafts that they sell, we are encouraging kids to give to missions in September and beyond.

  • ENCOURAGE: Encouraging kids on the mission field is very important! And who better to encourage them than other kids? Get a group of kids together with some pencils and crayons and write some letters to send abroad. We even provide you with a printable letter-writing/coloring page to use. You can email those letters to communications@rpglobalmissions.org and we’ll pass them along to the kids they are intended to go to. Hopefully, this will begin to be a practice that happens beyond September.

International kid2kid day: September 28th

What is International Kid2Kid Day?

Last year we started a new tradition, a tradition to cultivate community within congregations AND across the globe! Celebrate the conclusion of your church’s Kid2Kid activities on September 28th with an event.

Churches across the world will join together by concluding K2K 2024 in the same way by:

  • Singing Psalm 47A (this year’s theme Psalm)

  • Learning what Psalm 47 tells us about global missions

  • Sharing food that RPGM kids eat—whether it’s local food that they enjoy or foods that are familiar to them

  • Raising funds for RP Global Missions

  • Partaking in fun missions-centric games and activities

  • Taking pictures and posting them on social media. (Use #ik2k and #rpgmk2k and tag us @rpglobalmissions in your IK2K photos.) We’ll share our love for the global church using global communications technology.

For IK2K resources, including a devotional based on Psalm 47 and food suggestions from RPGM families, contact your congregation’s Congregational Missions Advocate. Don’t have a CMA? Ask your Session about appointing a CMA.

frequently asked questions

Q: How do I write to the kids on the field?
If your congregation has a Congregational Missions Advocate (CMA), you can ask them for an email/snail mail address. If your congregation doesn’t have a CMA, you can email RP Global Missions at communications@rpglobalmissions.org to either have us send your letter via email or to request the contact information you are looking for.

Q: Where do I send the money I’ve raised?
A: If your church is collecting funds for the Kid2Kid campaign, you can contribute to that fund. Checks can be mailed to RP Global Missions, 7408 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15208. Or you can give online (just leave a comment that the funds are for the Kid2Kid campaign).

Q: What will the money I raised go toward?
A: It’s up to you to choose! You can designate funds to any field or missionary family. You can always add a note to let us know what you would like your funds to go toward and we will designate your money toward that or a similar need if that other need has already been fulfilled.
